Description And Application :
Trichloracetic Acid (TCA) is the primary ingredient in the Obagi Blue Peel. Noticeable peeling will be realized, with some down-time that will vary from client-to-client, depending upon your skin type.
Our TCA Home Peels are excellent for softening deeper wrinkling, reducing/removing less severe facial lines, improving sun damage, fading hyperpigmentation (freckles, "age" spots), reducing scars (not keloid scarring, however), reducing acneic conditions with/without scarring, reducing and/or completely removing upper lip lines. Improved skin coloration/brightness will be seen after peeling, with a fresh, more refined texture to the skin.
TCA peels typically tighten the skin and provide a lifting effect.*** Begin with either our 10% (lightest/beginner's kit) if you haven't used TCA's previously. Once you have become accustomed to using TCA's at home...and should you feel you need to use a stronger percentage...graduate-up to the 20%.
The Treatment :
TCA - is a self-regulating acid which typically stops working after 5 - 8 minutes. However, we do recommend the neutralizing solution of baking soda and water (listed above) to ensure complete neutralization at any time during the process. If the burning from the product is too much for you, neutralize with the baking soda recipe provided above. Once the acid is off the skin, the burning sensation will stop.
After the Treatment :
Post-peel, your skin will continue to improve for 14-21 days as cell turnover takes place and your skin returns to a normal pH level.
NOTE :
We feel 10% is the strongest at-home TCA peel clients should use, to ensure safety. 10% should be used *only* by experienced TCA users. If you are a skin care professional needing higher TCA percentages, we're happy to have them formulated for you.
